The Costa del Sol is a 20-mile stretch of coastline found in the southern part of Spain. This stretch of the region’s Andalusian coastline stretches from Nerja in the east to Manilva in the west. The biggest tourist resorts are west of Malaga where the coast mainly consists of long beaches. While the coastal strip east of Malaga does not have the same mass tourism at all and instead consists of rocks and small bays to cool off in. Within this entire coastal strip you will find towns such as Torre del Mar, Malaga, Torremolinos, Benalmadena , Fuengirola, Marbella, San Pedro de Alcantara and Estepona. Before, the Costa del Sol stretched from Motril in the east to Cádiz in the west. Now the provinces have been divided, and the province of Granada is called the Costa Tropical and the province of Cadiz is called the Costa de la Luz.

Costa del Sol Golf

It’s not just the beach that attracts people to come here, the nice and well-maintained golf courses are also a big factor. Imagine getting up early one morning and standing on the first tee, looking out over the wonderfully beautiful green golf course with palm trees and orange trees and the sun slowly rising over the green when you hit your first ball. Many golfers have understood that it can’t get any better than that, and you must therefore remember that you should book a course in time. Because of the many golf courses, the coast is also called Costa del golf. North-west of Marbella there are most golf courses and this area is also called the golf valley. The most famous course is the Club de Golf Valderrama, which hosted the Ryder Cup in 1997. Read more Golf in Costa del sol.
